On July 6th, the demonstration application project of the all vanadium liquid flow energy storage power station with a total investment of about 1.6 billion yuan and the largest capacity in Southwest China settled in Panzhihua Vanadium Titanium High tech Zone.

The project is signed between Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium High tech Zone and Panzhihua China Power Investment New Energy Co., Ltd. It is planned to be located in the Tuanshan area of Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium High tech Zone, with a land area of about 80 acres. The project will invest in the construction of a 100MW/500MWh vanadium liquid flow energy storage demonstration power plant.
This project is a key support project for the construction of a world-class vanadium titanium industry base and an important national clean energy base. It will create a pilot model for long-term energy storage applications in the Sichuan power system, greatly enhancing the influence of Panzhihua as the "vanadium electricity capital of China", providing leading support for Panzhihua's vanadium liquid flow energy storage products to base in Sichuan, radiate southwest, and serve the country, and promoting the development of vanadium energy storage from the initial stage of commercialization to scale.
This project is equivalent to a super 'power bank', with a storage capacity of up to 500000 kilowatt hours. It can be charged during low power consumption periods and discharged during peak power consumption periods, effectively achieving peak shaving, frequency regulation, emergency backup and other functions, improving the reliability of power supply and ensuring the safe and economic operation of the power grid. The relevant person in charge of the Panzhihua Development and Reform Commission stated that the project will also provide favorable conditions for the development of wind and photovoltaic power generation in Panzhihua, Assist Panzhihua in building a 100 billion level clean energy industry and accelerate the construction of a new energy system.
It is worth mentioning that the project will also build the world's first vanadium battery based energy storage encyclopedia empirical base.
The implementation of the project can provide a reference model for the safety and supply of energy in Sichuan, the development of large-scale new energy bases in Sichuan, and the integration of park sources, networks, loads, and storage. At the same time, through product comparison and technology demonstration applications, it will demonstrate technological innovations such as improving electrolyte energy density, stack current density, and system integration efficiency, which will help the development of the entire vanadium battery industry in China Introduction by the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
At the same time, as the largest all vanadium liquid flow energy storage demonstration project in the southwest region, the completion of the project will greatly drive the vanadium resources, vanadium electrolyte, battery stack, system integration and other industries in the province, assist the development of the entire vanadium battery industry chain in Panzhihua, and promote the creation of a national vanadium titanium rare earth advanced manufacturing cluster.
The relevant person in charge of the Economic and Information Bureau of Panzhihua City stated that Panzhihua will take this opportunity to deeply promote the five in one, multi energy complementary, and coordinated development of "water, wind, and hydrogen storage", focus on building a "vanadium battery energy storage+pumped storage, lithium sodium ion battery energy storage, hydrogen energy storage" energy storage industry development system, focus on building a vanadium battery "equipment manufacturing+materials" characteristic industrial cluster, and accelerate the construction of "China's vanadium electricity capital".
